My Training & Commitment
As Occupational Therapists we are thoroughly trained in analyzing activities and matching them to abilities. These skills are essential in this line of work, but additional training is very important as the decisions that are made have a huge impact on the life of the client as well as the company they are working for.
In 1982 I graduated with a B. Occ. Therapay from the University of the Free State.
I have worked at different practices over the years and co-owned and owned my own general practice form 2008 to 2018.
In 2013 I made the decision to specialize in Vocational Occupational Therapy, more specifically Functional Capacity Evaluations.
Since then I have attended numerous courses and work shops, mostly in South Africa, starting in 2012 with the well researched course by Dr Tanya Campbell "Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE): justifying, selecting and using assessments"
A number of smaller workshops followed as I identified the need of additional knowledge.
When I realized that a large number of my clients had to cope with chronic pain conditions, I started attending courses presented by the Train Pain Academy. There I was introduced to the PGAP. I trained to become a certified PGAP provider in 2018.
Fitness to drive is a procedure that was not available in Namibia, but in 2019 I was trained with a few of my colleagues, to conduct these assessments.
As I am committed to give exceptional service to my clients, I will continue to equip myself whenever the opportunity arises.
